Making Potato Chips in the Microwave
This is a pretty old school recipe that you might have seen on any of those satellitetv.net cooking channels – Food, HGTV, that kind of thing. The difference here, however, is that it’s not going to take you an entire hour-long television program to find what you need. In fact, it will probably only take you about 20 or 30 minutes tops.
Let’s start with the ingredients. You will need:
- 1 potato (obviously)
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (olive oil will work too)
- 1 plastic bag
- 1 large dinner plate
- cooking spray
Now that we have all that, here’s what you do:
1. Cut that potato paper thin. Literally, paper thin. Make sure your knife is sharp enough. You can peel if you want, but you really shouldn’t have to if the slices are thin enough.
2. Next, you’ll want to put the vegetable oil and the potato slices into the plastic bag. Give it a good shake to make sure every slice is coated in the oil.
3. Put a thin layer of cooking spray on the dinner plate and arrange the potato slices on it. One layer. Don’t stack or overlap.
4. Cook in the microwave for about 5 minutes. If they are not browned, they won’t be crispy.
5. When they are ready, remove the plate from the microwave and season. Then let cool.
A Job For Every Family Member At Dinnertime
When dinner starts in the house, there are jobs that everyone can do. The mother is usually the one who is preparing the meal and cooking. Small children should not touch the stove, but they can help pour ingredients into a bowl or stir them together. Both parents can cook on the stove or place items in the oven. If there is only one parent at home, then this job would be their responsibility. Teenagers can help with putting pots and pans on the stove, but unless they have used the stove before, Continue reading
